Deciding which colors to use can be difficult, but one way to know for sure that you are choosing the right shades to achieve your desired effect is to focus on the colors that compliment your eye color.
If You Have:
Blue Eyes: Light to medium shades of brown and pink work well for everyday use, since these colors compliment and emphasize your eye color. For a dramatic effect, try purple or green, but stay away from blue eyeshadow, unless you are trying to look like a Barbie doll.
Brown Eyes: Dark greens and plums are your best colors, since they help to bring out the beauty of your eyes. Shades of blue and bright pink are good for a dramatic look, but avoid any orange shades, since this will make your eyes look washed out.
Green Eyes: Purple is your best color, from lilac to violet, this is the hue to make those emerald eyes of yours really stand out. Stay away from pinks, which will make your eye color look faded, and browns.
