Some wood lamps today are not made from solid wood – rather they consist of perhaps wood sawdust and some kind of resin compound. Manufacturers utilize this material because it can easily be shaped into intricate forms at a more affordable price – than say a hand carved piece of wood. That does not mean that they are necessarily cheap. Many of these semi-authentic wood lamps can be quite attractive – and just as costly as other types of lamps.
